Google have recently released an interesting tool, Google Trends, which alllows you to have some fun looking at trends in skiing (or at least trends in searches for skiing related terms).
One interesting comparison is the popularity of different resorts in searches.
Comparing 3 popular French ski resorts of Val d'Isere, Tignes and Courchevel produces a pretty unsurprising graph, but looking at the details for the regions where the searches come from highlights some differences that perhaps the relevant tourist offices should take note.

It looks like all 3 resorts are equally popular in the UK, but Tignes is relatively more popular amoungst the French, Belgium and Dutch searches online. Now if you could overlay relative tourist office budgets per language...
